One of the leading global travel search sites Skyscanner listed 20 most hipster neighbourhoods in the world. Among others, Kalamaja, one of the fastest developing neighbourhoods in Tallinn was also selected as one of the best choices, Tallinn Tourism board said in a statement, ciets LETA.

"Kalamaja is not far from the city centre, but it seems miles away. There are wooden houses, quiet streets, flea markets, many bars and lovely shops as comfortable as your own living room. Among them, Klaus, that will amaze you with a tailor-made 60s style, a patio from which you can hear the sound of the sea, and a man-shaped lamp who will surprise you. Go and say hello!," says Skyscanner about Kalamaja disctrict which has lately developed into the most creative and stylish neighbourhoods in Tallinn.

Kalamaja is known as one of the best preserved wooden architecture areas in Tallinn. History of the area dates back to the 14th century when Kalamaja was traditionally dominated by fishermen, fishmongers and boat wrights. Today you can find the historic Patarei Prison and Sea Fortress, the region's biggest sea centre Seaplane Harbour and Tallinn Creative Hub with its community garden in the area as well as one of the biggest venues for theatre and music – Noblessner.
