Milgravis square reconstruction work is a continuation of co-operation between the Freeport of Riga Authority and Vecmilgravis Development Association with the aim to strengthen contacts and mutual understanding of the Freeport and residents of surrounding areas, creating a fertile environment for sustainable development.
A beautiful, green
square with cobblestone paths was created on 7800 square meters of spacious
waterfront area along the street Meldru , including the alleys along the
channel edge, a playground for children, reminding of a vessel to symbolize the
presence of the Freeport of Riga , and a recreation area with a street ball
field, a special dog walking area, and other improvements. About 100 000 Lats
were invested into square development activities.
In 2011 the Freeport of Riga Authority financed creation of a memorial stone on this territory, dedicated to Mangali Seamen School.
