Estonian meat industries quadrupled profits in 2012

The turnover of Estonian meat industries grew by more than 30 mln euros to 260.5 mln euros.
The share of meat industry total product in production of food products was 21.1% in 2012.
Exports of the sector grew by nearly 10% to 87.2 mln euros, which formed 7.8% of total agricultural products and produce exports.
"For further development of the meat industry, investments are needed to give more added value to our meat production," said agriculture ministry agriculture and rural life policy deputy chancellor Illar Lemetti, adding that in the past five years mostly investments have been used to acquire equipment and machinery.
