With turnover of LVL 37.936 million, cosmetics and household goods retailer Drogas was the leading company in Latvia's perfume and cosmetics industry in 2011, according to the Latvian Business Report 2012 collated by Latvijas Talrunis, Firmas.lv and Nozare.lv.

The other top ten perfume and cosmetics industry companies in Latvia last year were Henkel Latvia with LVL 26.423 million in turnover, L'oreal Baltic – LVL 24.473 million, Douglas Latvia – LVL 9.172 million, Dzintars – LVL 5.425 million, Avon Cosmetics – LVL 5.257 million, Sirowa Riga – LVL 3.694 million, Stenders – LVL 3.665 million, Oriflame Latvija – LVL 3.458 million, and Faberlic Baltija – LVL 3.166 million, writes LETA.

The report states that there were no considerable changes in Latvia's perfume and cosmetics industry in 2011. This year, companies continue to develop after the crisis and new brands enter the market. The quality of service increases.

It is also noted that the export potential of cosmetics companies depends on the recognition of their brands, products and prices. "The European market is saturated. However, there is a potential in rapidly developing countries (both in terms of economy and population), for example – China. In these countries, it is important to offer different quality products from Europe, points out Stenders CEO Janis Berzins.
