In July, Lithuania's new car market reached 1,200 cars sold

In July 2012, Lithuanian new passenger car market grew by nearly 1% to reach 1,200 cars sold. In July 2011, a total of 1,191 new cars was registered.

According to preliminary data of automotive research company AutoTyrimai, in July the number of registered passenger cars (M1) decreased by 2% to 1,051. However, the number of light commercial vehicles (N1) increased by as many as 25% to reach 149 cars, writes LETA/ELTA.

 

Last month, Volkswagen remained a leading brand in Lithuania (205 cars), considerably ahead of Fiat with 134 cars and Toyota with 131 cars sold. The best selling models were Volkswagen Golf/Plus, Fiat 500 and Toyota Avensis.

 

Among the luxury cars BMW was an undisputed leader (48 cars).

 

From January to July 2012, a total of 8,138 new passenger cars was registered, or by 6% less than year-on-year with 8,612 cars.
