Volume of freight transported by Latvian rail increased by 13% in January-May

Print versionIn the first five months of 2012, freight transportation volume by rail amounted to LVL 28.6 million, 13% more than in the respective period in 2011, according to data from the Latvian Port, Transit and Logistics Council.

The volume of transit freight transported through Latvian ports grew 13.3% – to 23.16 million tons. Domestic transportation volumes rose 20.6% to 410,200 tons, writes LETA.
Meanwhile, import and export transportation volumes increased 0.6% and 9% respectively.
