Estonia records EU's third steepest increase in new automobile registrations in April

Print versionNew automobile registrations in Latvia increased by 4.6% in April 2012, which was the sixth smallest increase in Europe, according to the latest report from the European Automobile Manufacturers Association. The steepest increase among all countries included in the report was recorded in Iceland – 147.8%, followed by Hungary – 15.8%, and Estonia – 15.5%.

The report includes data on all EU member states, excluding Malta, and members of the European Free Trade Association – Switzerland, Norway and Iceland, writes LETA.
884 new automobiles were registered in Latvia in April, compared to 845 in April 2011.
1566 new cars were registered in Estonia in April, whereas new car registrations in Lithuania reduced 8.7% to 1063 units.
Meanwhile, the largest decreases were registered in Finland – 64.5%, Greece – 41.7%, and Portugal – 41.7%.
Altogether, 1,058,348 new automobiles were registered in the countries covered by the report in April, 6.5% less than in April 2011.
