EC approves port’s project on Riga's Krievu Island

The European Commission has approved Latvia's large-scale infrastructure development project on Riga's Krievu Island, moving port activity further away from the city's center.

The project will cost LVL 104 million, including LVL 54 million funded by the Cohesion Fund, LETA was informed by the Finance Ministry.

 

According to the project, four new terminals (with overall length of 1,180 meters) will be constructed on Krievu Island to handle bulk cargo.

 

The new terminals will be connected to the current terminal. New supply roads and railways will be constructed, public supply roads – reconstructed, water supply, sewerage and telecommunications networks established.

 

As reported, on March 27, the Procurement Monitoring Bureau allowed the Riga Freeport to conclude an agreement on the development of Riga's Krievu Island.
