Ventspils Port cargo turnover increased by 61% in January

Print versionIn January 2012, Ventspils Port handled slightly more than three million tons of cargo, which is 1.1 million tons or 61% more than in January 2011, as the port's spokesperson Inga Ievina informed LETA.

In January, Ventspils Port handled 1.6 million tons of liquid cargo (46% increase year-on-year), 1.2 million tons of bulk cargo (107% increase), and 174,000 tons of general cargo (four% decrease).
Oil products accounted for the largest share of Ventspils Port's cargo turnover last month. The port handled 1.5 million tons of oil products (47% increase) and 939,000 tons of coal (249% increase).
The port's ferry lines continued to develop, the volume of ro-ro cargo grew by 11%.
