Kesko may build a major warehouse in Estonia

Print versionFinnish trade concern Kesko is considering the possibility of building a major warehouse in Estonia that would service in addition to Finland also the Baltic states and Russian markets, LETA/Postimees Online reports.

Kesko is considering now whether to expand its warehouse ion Kerava, Finland, or build one in Estonia, writes Kauppalehti. The warehouse would mainly service Internet trade. Estonia has lower VAT, 20% versus Finland's 23% which is one factor in favour of Estonia.
"We have an option to a warehouse building in Kerava, but if the Finnish VAT increases and when we take into consideration labor costs and the complications of finding staff, we are considering building the warehouse in Estonia," said Kesko's manager Matti Halmesmäki.
