Kuusakoski has invested over 1.5 million EUR this year into more effective handling of scrap metal and entering new business spheres.
Kuusakoski opened a special warehousing unit for timber waste and launched this year also production of fuel from plastic, old tyres and other synthetic waste.
“Since when demolishing and reprocessing cars and other metal waste, a lot of extra waste emerge that metals industries do not need, we had the thought of launching production of waste-based fuels,” said Kuusakoski’s board member Marko Kippa, adding that the company intends to produce 5,000 tonnes of waste-based and bio-fuel by the end of this year.
