The airport of Kaunas, the second biggest in Lithuania, intends to build a solar power plant, informs LETA/BNS.

Lietuvos Oro Uostai (Lithuanian Airports), the operator of Lithuania’s three airports, had launched market consultations on the construction of such a facility within the territory of the airport in order to reduce spending on electricity bills and to contribute to the promotion of green energy, the airport said in a press release.

The facility would have the total capacity of approximately 250 kW and the contract with the future contractor would be signed for a period of 10 years, Kaunas Airport CEO Karolis Matulaitis said.

The plant could be built on the territory of 3–5 hectares that would be managed by the contractor, he added.
