Merko, Kapitel sign EUR 8 mln contract for renovation of Nordic Hotel Forum

S Merko Ehitus Eesti, part of listed Estonian construction group Merko Ehitus, and OU Veeilu, subsidiary of AS Kapitel, on Thursday entered into an 8 million euro contract for the renovation of Nordic Hotel Forum located at 3 Viru Square in Tallinn city center, informs LETA/BNS.

The contract value is approximately 8 million euros, plus value added tax. The works are scheduled to be completed in spring 2021, Merko told the stock exchange.


The contract includes renovation of common areas and all 267 hotel rooms together with replacing the furniture.


According to Kapitel, the interior design project was drawn up by the interior design firm Artaku, the interior architects are Kaire Kemp-Tisler and Ea Andla.


"During the renovation, we will procure, among other things, technological solutions that will help to organize the entire customer journey as contactlessly as possible in the post-virus period," Nordic Hotels management board member Feliks Magus said in a press release.


Kapitel is a real estate company operating in the Baltics that develops and manages shopping centers, hotels and office buildings, including the Delta Plaza and Sopruse Arimaja in Tallinn, Narbuto 5 in Vilnius and I.P.Pavlova 5 in Prague.


Kapitel also has stakes in four shopping centers -- Spice and Spice Home in Riga, Panorama in Vilnius and Viru Keskus in Tallinn. The company owns the Nordic Hotel Forum, which is operated by OU Nordic Hotels, and together with AS Infortar also owns Tallink City Hotel, which is operated by Tallink Hotels.
