GET Baltic gas exchange posts 4-fold increase in August trades
A total of 1,321 transactions were concluded in August at prices ranging between 4.74 euros per MWh and 10.65 euros. This is up from 1,142 in July, GET Baltic said.
Trading remained active in all market areas in the last month of the summer, with 45 percent of gas purchased in the Lithuanian market area, 35% in the common Latvian-Estonian market area, and 20% in Finland.
Following seven straight months of decline, the Baltic-Finnish Gas Spot Index (BGSI), which records daily market gas prices changes, rose to 7.85 euros per MWh in August, from 6.61 euros in July.
Forty-five participants actively submitted orders in August and 44 of them successfully concluded transactions, compared with 44 and 42, respectively, in July.
The total number of exchange participants edged up to 99 last month, from 98 a month ago.
