An unnamed customer has booked 0.92 terawatt-hours (TWh) in additional regasification capacity, or approximately one large gas carrier, at the Klaipeda liquefied natural gas (LNG) terminal, reported LETA/BNS.

The tanker is to arrive in the Lithuanian port between September 30 and November 21, Klaipedos Nafta, the terminal's operator, said in a stock exchange release on Monday.

In total, the terminal's users have booked regasification capacity for 8.36 TWh for the next gas year starting on October 1, according to figures from Klaipedos Nafta.

The operator said earlier it had signed contracts with two customers for the next gas year. It is likely that the customers are Lithuania's state-owned electricity and gas supply company Ignitis, and the fertilizer manufacturer Achema, the country's biggest natural gas consumer.

Regasification capacity for about 23.1 TWh was booked for the current gas year ending in late September. The terminal has already handled 65 gas carriers, including 16 large tankers from Norway, four large shipments from the United States, and 45 cargoes of some 10,000 cubic meters each from Russia.

The terminal is used by five Lithuanian and Estonian companies. These are Lithuania's state-owned electricity and gas supply company Ignitis, the fertilizer manufacturer Achema, Imlitex, which is part of the commodity trade group Imlitex Holdings, and two Estonian companies – Eesti Energia, and Elenger (Eesti Gaas).
