Estonia: N.R. Energy's EUR 2 mln Rummu boiler plant to be completed by next heating period

Energy producer N.R. Energy will complete construction work in the boiler plant and district heating pipeline in Rummu by the next heating period, the total cost of the work is 2 mln euros, informed LETA.

The main structure of the building and the equipment necessary for heat production are ready at the wood chip powered boiler plant being built in Rummu. According to N.R. Energy manager Ahto Tisler, the construction work is nearing completion and Rummu's household heating will already come from the new boiler plant during the next heating period.


N.R. Energy also plans to renovate the Keila-Joa and Klooga boiler plants in the West-Harju region in the coming years. "We intend to submit an application for the renovation of these boiler plants to the Environmental Investment Center, and if all goes well, the new boiler plants will be able to be used already in 2021-2022," Tisler said.


According to the manager of N.R. Energy, the company has invested approximately 20 million euros in district heating systems across Estonia over the past 11 years, and plans to further invest in the modernization of regional heating infrastructure in the coming years.


The construction of the new boiler plant in Rummu is supported by the Environmental Investment Center.

Energy OU supplies thermal energy to 22 district heating network areas across Estonia and sells thermal energy from over 30 unmanned district and local boiler plants. The company's main customers are apartment buildings, private houses, schools, kindergartens, sports buildings, healthcare institutions, local governments, agencies and companies. The company is also active in the Estonian bitumen market.
