ACE Logistics launches regular freight transportation by rail from China to Lithuania

BC, Vilnius, 01.07.2020.Print version
Lithuanian logistics company ACE Logistics has launched regular freight transportation by rail from China to Lithuania, informs LETA/BNS.

The first direct freight train from China's Xian Station arrived in Vilnius on Tuesday spending 11 days on the road.

Tomas Jankauskas, head of the company's marine and railway transport division, says freight will be transported twice a week, and should take 8-9 days for such a train to arrive in the future.

"We started transporting freight from China seven years ago but they used to be transported via Poland and containers would be placed on vehicles in Warsaw or on the Lithuanian border and be then taken to the distribution terminal in Vilnius. This train eliminates the transshipment stage, saving time and money," Jankauskas said in a statement.

ACE Logistics, the Lithuanian branch of Estonia's logistics and transportation group ACE Logistics Group, started freight transportation by rail from China in 2013. ACE Logistics' turnover rose 3% to 12.2 million euros last year.
