Tallink to open seasonal Helsinki-Riga service

BC, Riga, 26.06.2020.Print version
Listed Estonian shipper Tallink Grupp will operate a seasonal service between Helsinki and Riga from June 26 to August 15, 2020, the group's representatives reported, cites LETA.

The route will be serviced by Silja Serenade, a ship which normally plies the Helsinki-Stockholm route. The vessel will depart from the Olympia terminal of the South Port of Helsinki and from Riga every second day starting from June 26.

The ship will depart from Helsinki at 4 p.m. and arrive in Riga at 10:30 the next morning. It will depart from Riga at 4:30 p.m. and arrive in Helsinki at 11:00 a.m.

Tallink Grupp CEO Paavo Nogene said in a press release that the Riga-Helsinki route is not completely new for Tallink, as Tallink has previously offered special cruises between the capitals of Latvia and Finland that were very popular with the shipper's Finnish clients.

The CEO added that as the forthcoming summer and the tourism high season will be very different from those of the previous years, Tallink has had to adopt a novel approach and redevelop its offering of services during a very shorty period of time.

The company will apply stepped-up hygiene and safety measures on board the Silja Serenade, including more frequent cleaning and disinfection of surfaces. Restrictions have been established for the numbers of people allowed in bars and restaurants at different times and the entertainment offered will be consistent with safety requirements.
