The Lithuanian government on Wednesday gave the green light for resuming regular flights to Norway, making it the fourth destination after Frankfurt, Riga and Tallinn allowed to reopen in the past two weeks.

Foreign Minister Linas Linkevicius told the Cabinet that flights from Vilnius to Oslo would resume from May 25, adding that airBaltic and Wizz Air had asked for permission to operate the route.

"Flights would be operated from Vilnius to Oslo, and Wizz Air would also operate flights from Alesund and Bergen to Kaunas," he said.

The minister added that he had discussed the possibility of reopening the routes with his Estonian and Latvian counterparts earlier this month.

Prime Minister Saulius Skvernelis told reporters on Tuesday that the Polish airline LOT would likely relaunch flights from Lithuania to Warsaw shortly.

Germany's Lufthansa currently flies passengers from Vilnius to Frankfurt. Latvia's airBaltic has relaunched flights from Vilnius to Riga and is expected to resume flying from the Lithuanian capital to Tallinn next week.
