Klaipeda leads Baltic ports in terms of cargo traffic for 4th year in a row

Despite a slight decline in throughput in 2019, Klaipeda retained the number-one spot among all Baltic seaports in terms of cargo traffic for the fourth year in a row
The port of Klaipeda handled 46.22 mln tons of cargo last year, down 0.8% compared with 2018.
Riga posted a 10.1% decrease in cargo traffic to 32.762 mln tons. Ventspils saw cargo volumes grow by 0.9 percent to 20.5 mln tons, but Liepaja recorded a 2.7% decline to 7.334 mln tons, according to figures published by the Latvian ports' authorities.
The Port of Tallinn, the operator of five harbors, has said the annual cargo volume fell by 3.3% in 2019 from 2018 to 19.9 mln tons.
Lithuania's Butinge oil terminal, which is owned by Orlen Lietuva, handled 9.541 mln tons of crude last year, down 1.2% y-o-y.
