Swedbank ranks 1st among Lithuanian banks by assets, deposits, SEB by loans

Swedbank was the number-one bank in Lithuania by assets and deposits in late September and SEB Bankas led the market in terms of loans, consolidated figures from the central Bank of Lithuania showed on Friday, reported LETA/BNS.

Swedbank held assets worth 8.541 bn euros at the end of September, accounting for 31.2% of the total banking assets.


SEB Bankas followed in second place with 7.666 bn euros, or 28% of the market.


Luminor, a new bank created through the merger of DNB Bankas and Nordea Bank's Lithuanian branch, ranked third with 6.528 bn euros, or 23.9%. 


SEB Bankas' portfolio of loans and advances stood at 6.203 bn euros in late September, giving it a 31.1% market share. Luminor held 26.7% of the market with 5.324 bn euros, followed closely by Swedbank with 26.2 percent and 5.227 bn euros.


Swedbank held the largest deposit portfolio, at 7.595 bn euros, giving it a 36.5% market share. The portfolio included 5.236 bn euros in household deposits, or 42% of the market. 


SEB Bankas followed in second place with 5.989 bn euros, or 28.3% of the market. The bank held the biggest portfolio of non-financial companies' deposits, at 1.76 bn euros, or 30.2% of the market. 


Luminor held a 19.5% share of the deposit market with 4.054 bn euros. 


Six commercial banks and six foreign bank branches operated in Lithuania in late September.
