International packaging manufacturer Retal is investing 4 million euros in its Klaipeda-based subsidiary Retal Baltic, with plans to build a warehouse, administrative premises and a new laboratory, reports LETA/BNS.

"Lithuania is a strategically very important region for us. Retal plans to continue developing its business and investing here," Anatoliy Martynov, owner of Retal Industries, said in a press release.

Retal Baltic, which operates in the Klaipeda Free Economic Zone, produces transparent, colored and metallized films for packaging food and other products, as well as bottle caps. It manufactured 12,000 tons of films and 2.5 billion caps in 2017.

Retal's companies in Lithuania employ a workforce of over 600 people, including almost 400 in Klaipeda-based Retal Baltic and Neo Group. Retal also has units in Vilnius and Lentvaris, a town close to the capital.

Some 22.5 million euros and 17.3 million euros have been invested in Retal Lithuania and Klaipeda-based Retal Baltic, respectively, since Martynov's acquisition of the companies in 2007.
