Lithuania's pet food manufacturer Mars Lietuva, which is part of the international food industry giant Mars, plans to invest 18 million euros in expansion, informs LETA/BNS.

Mars Lietuva, which is based in Gargzdai, in western Lithuania, expects to launch in July construction on a 2,200-square-meter extension, with plans to set up a truck parking lot near it, Mindaugas Rupsys, corporate affairs manager at Mars Petcare Europe, told BNS.

"We will build a production warehouse that is needed for investing in production capacities and reorganizing production flows in existing premises," Rupsys said.

"The project and preparatory work started some time ago and construction on the extension will now begin," he added.

Mars Lietuva, which is 100% owned by US-based Mars Overseas Holdings, last year saw its net profit fall to 7.69 million euros, down 19.5% from 9.552 million euros in 2016. Annual revenue increased by 3.9% to 156.664 million euros.
