Considering the growing trade volumes between Latvia and Belarus, both countries will exchange additional permits for truckers, the joint Latvia-Belarus commission decided, cites LETA.

Lilita Pelcere, a representative of the Latvian Road Transport Directorate (ATD), reported that in the first quarter of 2018 compared to the respective period last year, cargos transported by road between Belarus and Latvia have risen by one third.

The joint commission agreed that Latvia this year will receive 7,500 additional permits, including 3,500 universal permits for transportation of cargos to and from the third countries, and 2,000 transit permits. So far Latvian truckers have received 24,000 permits for this year.

Belarus will receive by 40 percent more permits than initially agreed,

Also, next year Latvia and Belarus will exchange 29,000 permits for truckers.
