Maxima Latvija invests EUR 250,000 in first Express convenience store in Riga

The Maxima Latvija supermarket chain has invested EUR 250,00 in opening up its first Maxima Express convenience store in Riga, the company's spokeswoman Liene Dupate-Ugule told LETA.

The first Maxima Express convenience store, which is also the first one opened in the Baltics as well, was unveiled today on Merkela Street in Riga.


Maxima is planning on investing EUR 1.2 million this year in setting up a chain of mini Maxima Express supermarkets.


Maxima informs that starting from June of this year, the company plans on opening on average one Maxima Express convenience store per month - five in Riga, and one in Ventspils.


The new mini supermarkets will offer all the usual products of a convenience store - food products, ready made meals, beverages etc.


Maxima Latvija closed 2016 with a turnover of EUR 694 million, which is 0.7 percent more than in 2015, while the company's profit decreased 37.5 percent to EUR 11.98 million.


Maxima Latvija, founded in 2000, is one of the leading retail chains in Latvia. At present there are 154 Maxima stores located in 46 cities and towns across Latvia: 126 Maxima X stores, 24 Maxima XX supermarkets and four Maxima XXX hypermarkets.
