Number of passengers at Riga airport rose by 12.5% in 11 months
In November 2017, the airport served 461,636 passengers, or by 19.7% more
than in November 2016.
The number of flights handled by the airport rose 9.5% year-on-year to
68,766 in the first 11 months of 2017, which included 6,066 flights handled in
November, up 16% year-on-year.
Freight handled by the Riga airport in the first 11 months of this year
grew 25.3% year-on-year to 22,626 tons. In November 2017, freight turnover at
the airport rose 73.7% year-on-year to 2,900 tons.
In 2016, Riga Airport handled over 5.4 million passengers, or nearly 45% of
all air passengers in the Baltic states, as well as 68,061 flights and 19,760
tons of freight.
Riga International Airport is the largest air traffic hub in the Baltic
states. The airport offers flights to more than 60 destinations in the winter
season and to nearly 90 destinations in summer, operated by 20 airlines.
