Estonian Ridango wins ticketing system tender in Kiev

BC, Tallinn, 13.12.2017.Print version
The Estonian company AS Ridango has signed an agreement for supplying a ticketing system to the public transport system of the city of Kiev, Ukraine, and the total cost of the tender is over 10 million euros, informs LETA/BNS.

"It was a public tender in Kiev and the volume of the whole tender was 365 million hryvnias," Ridango Marketing Director Argo Verk told BNS. He added that Ridango is participating in the tender through a partner and Ridango is not fulfilling the total scope of the tender, which is why Ridango's part of the tender is smaller.

As a result of the tender, Ridango's technology will reach 1,500 vehicles of Kiev's public transport above ground, which will be installed with over 5,000 validators. All validators will also receive a 2D-code detection capability, offering the possibility of identifying e-tickets from a phone screen.

In addition to the supply of equipment, the agreement covers the provision of a central system and the service to operate the system. The system is planned to be launched in 2018.

"We are very happy about this project. Ukraine is a new market for us and Kiev is the capital of a large European country. For Ridango this is a big step on the road of becoming the largest operator of the field in the region," Verk said.

Ridango AS is an Estonian technology company established in 2009 that develops public transport ticketing and real-time systems. The company offers "turnkey" solutions to local governments and companies, thus operating as a complex service provider.
