Packages of Latvian food-product manufacturers receive the top awards on prestige international packaging competition
“We are truly happy about the fact that our work has
received praise on the global scale. The awards confirm that we have
manufactured packaging of the highest quality. Nowadays not only visual
appearance of the product is important, but also packaging functionality and
ease of use,” says the president of IMMER
Group Irina Miroshnik.
IMMER Group submitted two packaging series to World Packaging
Organisation competition: “Jersika’s Chips” manufactured by SIA Glear and “Spilva Dresingi” sauces in stand-up
pouches manufactured by SIA Orkla Foods
Latvija. Both packages were manufactured by use of flexography technology
at IMMER Ukrplastic.
SIA Orkla Foods Latvija sauces “Spilva
Dresingi” are packed in a stand-up pouch, which is one of the most modern and
environmentally friendly packaging solutions. The packaging material protects
the product from sun and air, thus allowing to retain the product quality for
up to eight months. Metallized ink on a black background with silvery shine was
used to achieve the goal set by the manufacturer and design bureau DPJN to
create an elegant premium class product packaging.
Beneficial qualities of
stand up pouches are evaluated by the head
of Orkla Foods Latvija Lolita Bemhena:
“The awards serve as a praise and recognition of our work
with IMMER Group. Packaging
development has no insignificant details – every nuance and detail matters.
During the development of “Spilva” sauce package – stand up pouch –, we
were thinking about attractive design and convenience of use, as well as
reasonable product and packaging consumption. Effort was made to ensure that
the packed product is as light as possible and takes the smallest amount of
space, while ensuring that the stand-up pouch allows to use the product
completely. However, to keep the product fresh, a multi-layer packaging
material and a cork were used to protect the product form light and air. We
have taken into account all of these nuances that might seem inconspicuous at
first, and we are proud of our joint work and the praise it received”.
“Jersika’s Chips” are packaged in an easily openable
flow-pack that is manufactured from a special two-layer material, which ensures
longer shelf-life of the product and is fully recyclable after use. “Colorart Media”, authors of the visual style
of the package, adhered to the latest design tendencies and included many small
details, which are particularly emphasized by the partial varnish layer. The
approach resulted in a bright and attractive product, which stands out on store
shelves.
“Our task was to create a unique design for a unique
Latvian product, which would fit the international market, while retaining its
Latvian identity. In design development we followed the current Flat Food
Design style tendencies and created a package that stands out among the others
by its lively composition and colours. We are satisfied on our joint
achievement of this praised goal,” said the chairwoman of the board of SIA Colorart Media
Iveta Martinsone.
The world’s largest professional packaging industry
competition “WorldStar” has been held since 1970, and winning in this
competition is considered as a significant achievement in the industry. Every
year competition gets tougher – this year there were 318 works from 38
countries. The winners are chosen by
an international jury – experts from the board of World Packaging Organisation,
national and regional packaging organisations. Award ceremony will take place
on the 2nd of May 2018 in Queensland, Australia.
