According to information from the Zemgale Tourism Association, there was a 10 percent increase in the number of tourists visiting Zemgale Province in 2017, reports LETA.

Inese Turkupole-Zilpure from the Zemgale Tourism Association said that this was mostly due to an increase in the number of foreign tourists visiting the province, as well as a return of Russian tourists.

She said that most of the tourists visiting Zemgale this year were from Lithuania, Estonia and Russia, and that there was also an increase in the number of tourists from the United States, Japan and China.

''Of course the number of tourists increases in places where adequate and new services are being provided, and Zemgale is no exception,'' she said, adding that tourism objects in Zemgale are offering more services for families with children and schools groups as well.
