An entry by the firm of architects Dagopen titled "City Break" has won the competition for the architectural design of the Kaubamaja quarter in the Tallinn city center, reports LETA/BNS.

The winner was chosen from among 15 works submitted to the design competition organized for the new development of the listed retailer's quarter at the address Gonsiori 2/Ravala 6 in Tallinn, Tallinna Kaubamaja spokesperson Anna Villems told BNS.

Now negotiations will begin with the winning architects, and the cost of the project will be known after the endorsement of the planning terms.

The competition for the design of the structure that would more than double the floor area of Kaubamaja was announced on June 12 by Tallinna Kaubamaja Kinnisvara AS and MSI Grupp AS in cooperation with the Tallinn City Planning Department and the Estonian Association of Architects. The prize pool of the competition was 55,000 euros.

A popular vote held simultaneously with the architectural design competition, the outcome of which had no effect on the selection of the winning work, was won by an entry titled "Vork." The prize for the winner of the popular vote is 3,000 euros.
