Kauno Grudai (Kaunas Grain), one of Lithuania's largest grain processors, is investing in a new instant noodle production facility in Alytus, in the southern part of the country, because of orders from the global food industry giant Unilever, the business daily Verslo Zinios reported on Tuesday, cites LETA/BNS.

"We have already signed contracts. Unilever provides us with orders for five years. These orders will make up around 70 percent of the plant's workload, with the remaining capacity to be used for other customers," it quoted Kauno Grudai CEO Tautvydas Barstys as saying.

The group currently produces instant noodles in plastic packaging in its factory in Kedainiai, in central Lithuania, which it launched in 2011.

Kauno Grudai is planning to invest 15 million euros in its new instant food factory in Alytus. The plant will initially create around 40 jobs, with this number expected to rise to 220 within five years.
