Uzavas Alus brewery to invest more than EUR 2 mln in increasing production capacity

Latvia’s Uzavas Alus brewery will invest more than EUR 2 million in increasing its production capacity, the company’s co-owner and sole board member Uldis Pumpurs told LETA.

He said that the company has announced a tender at the internet website of the Procurement Monitoring Bureau on construction of auxiliary premises and brewing equipment for about EUR 2.5 million. "The project should increase the production capacity," said Pumpurs.


He said that the foundation stone should be laid in December, and the new equipment should be installed in March 2018.

 

Also, Uzavas Alus in the future plans to build a cogeneration plant so that the company does not have to purchase electricity for high prices.

 

In July this year Uzavas Alus announced that it plans to invest about EUR 2 million in development. The company also plans to attract co-financing from the EU structural funds.

 

In 2016 Uzavas Alus generated EUR 3.214 million in turnover, up 0.6% from a year ago, while the company’s profit was EUR 18,519 in contrast to a loss a year ago, according to Firmas.lv business database.

 

The company was founded in 1995 and its share capital is EUR 298,802. The company belongs to Uldis Pumpurs (1%) and Oskars Pumpurs (99%).
