Cohesion Fund to allot EUR 11.7 mln for water supply, sewerage projects in Riga and Daugavpils

Print versionMore than EUR 11.7 million will be made available from the Cohesion Fund for implementation of water supply and sewerage projects in Riga and Daugavpils, the Central Finance and Contracting Agency informed LETA.

The objective is to improve the quality and accessibility of sewerage and
water supply services, reduce environmental pollution, euthropication of water
bodies, and ensure adherence to European Union directives on water management.
Projects to be implemented in Riga will receive EUR 9,932,725 from the
Cohesion Fund and projects in Daugavpils - EUR 1,775,050. Private financing for
these projects will amount to at least EUR 2,066,078.
The Environmental Protection and Regional Development Ministry will
supervise implementation of the projects, and applications from Rigas Udens and Daugavpils Udens water supply companies will be accepted until
March 6 next year.
