Sevastova through to semis of WTA Elite Trophy tournament

Print versionLatvia's Anastasija Sevastova defeated Barbora Strycova (Czech Republic) 6-3, 6-4 in her second match of the WTA Elite Trophy tournament in China on November 2nd, informs LETA.

With the win, Sevastova has advanced to the tournament's semifinals.
Sevastova defeated Sloane Stephens
(United States) 7-5, 6-3 in her opening match of the tournament yesterday.
Sevastova has earned 240 WTA ranking points for her two wins at the
tournament.
At the moment, Sevastova is ranked 15th in the WTA rankings, while Strycova
is ranked 23rd and Stephens is ranked 13th.
12 players participate in the WTA Elite Trophy, split into four groups of
three. Over the first four days of competition, each player meets the other two
players in her group, with the winner in each group advancing to the semifinal.
In the tournament's semifinals, Sevastova will play Australia's Ashleigh Barty, who is currently ranked
20th in the world.
