Tele2 raises capacities in Baltics in Q3

Tele2 mobile operator in Latvia closed the first nine months of 2017 with EUR 86.6 million in turnover, up 10.7% against the same period a year ago, when the company achieved EUR 78.3 million in turnover, the company’s representatives told LETA. In Lithuania, Tele2 posted 1.439 billion Swedish kronor (EUR 150 mln) in revenue in the first nine months of 2017, up by 18.3% and sales of the Estonian unit of Tele2 in the third totaled 182 million Swedish kronor or around 18.9 million euros, remaining on the same level, informs LETA.

In the third quarter of 2017, Tele2 in Latvia turned over EUR 31.3 million, up 10.6% from the third quarter of last year when Tele2 showed a turnover of EUR 28.3 million.


The company’s representatives declined to reveal the operator’s nine-month and third-quarter profit.


Tele2, one of Lithuania's leading mobile operators, posted 1.439 billion Swedish kronor (EUR 150 mln) in revenue in the first nine months of 2017, up by 18.3%, from 1.216 billion kronor (EUR 126.7 mln), year-on-year.


The company's earnings before interest, taxes, depreciation and amortization (EBITDA) grew by 1 2 . 2% to 505 million Swedish kronor (EUR 52 .73 mln) in January- September 2017 from the same period last year.


Tele2 revenue from services in Lithuania increased by 1 3. 8% to 989 million kronor (EUR 103. 1 mln) in the first three quarters of 2017 year-on-year, while equipment sales soared by 3 0. 5% to 436 million kronor (EUR 45. 4 mln).


The company's investments (Capex) in Lithuania stood at 77 million kronor (EUR 8 mln) in the first nine months, down by a factor of 2. 6 from January- September of 2016.


At the end of September, the number of Tele2 mobile communications subscribers was 1.7 95 million, which indicates a rise by 6,000 year-on-year.


Tele2 operates a company of with the same name in Lithuania, its net revenue accounted for 7% of the group's turnover this year.

 

Sales of the Estonian unit of the Swedish telecommunications group Tele2 in the third quarter of the year totaled 182 million Swedish kronor or around 18.9 million euros, remaining on the same level as the third quarter of 2016.

 

The company's EBITDA grew 4% on year to 47 million Swedish kronor or 4.9 million euros, it can be seen from the company's report.

 

The company's number of customers declined by 15,000 compared with the third quarter of 2016 to 469,000 customers.

 

Sales of the Tele2 group grew 13% to 7.54 billion Swedish kronor or 784 million euros, while EBITDA increased 21% to 1.85 billion kronor or 192 million euros.
