Chinese dairy auditors satisfied with Estonia's supervisory system

BC, Tallinn, 18.10.2017.Print version
Chinese dairy auditors who visited Estonia in mid-October 2017 were satisfied with the food supervision system of Estonia, which allows to move forward towards opening the Chinese market to an Estonian dairy company that wishes to start exporting infant formulae to China, informs LETA/BNS.

Form Oct. 11–13, auditors from the Certification and Accreditation Administration of the People's Republic of China (CNCA) were in Estonia to look at supervision over the Estonian dairy sector and the organization of work at businesses, the Estonian Food and Veterinary Authority said.

Four Estonian companies can export their output to China since spring 2016. For the export of infant formulae a separate permit from China is necessary. The visit of the Chinese auditors is prompted by the interest of the Estonian company in obtaining a permit for the export of infant formulae to China.

The auditors from CNCA were altogether satisfied with the Estonian supervision system, the Estonian Food and Veterinary Authority said. In the case of a positive decision, the Estonian company interested in the opportunity should be able to export infant formulae to China already next year.

More auditors from China are about to visit Estonia still before the end of this year with a view to making possible the export red fish and products made thereof to China. On Nov. 8–16, officials from China's General Administration of Quality Supervision, Inspection and Quarantine (AQSIQ) are to visit Estonia to assess the organization of supervision of the handling of salmonidae. The auditors will also visit three fish processing companies to assess abidance by requirements for the handling of fish.
