The technology company Fujitsu Estonia AS is about to open a customer support center in the southwestern Estonian city of Parnu that will eventually employ a workforce of 50, reports LETA/BNS.

Merike Tiik, head of customer support at Fujitsu Estonia, said that initially 10 people will be hired in Parnu and plans are to develop the Parnu unit just like a similar unit in Tartu. "In Tartu we started off with 10 workers too, today we have 53 people working there. We hope it will be the same in Parnu," Tiik said in a press release.

"Service desk, or customer support, will expand to Parnu because charting the moment's state of affairs on the labor market showed us that the possibility exists to find workers with suitable skills there. We will hire 10 locals fluent in Finnish language who wish to develop their IT skills," Tiik said, adding that the unit will solve computer related problems for large companies of the Nordic region.

The service desk in Parnu will operate in a brand new building at the address Pikk 12.

Fujitsu is a Japanese information and communication technology company that employs 155,000 people in more than 100 countries. Fujitsu Estonia employs a workforce of 330, 160 of whom work in the IT customer support department. The service desk of Fujitsu Estonia has over 60 customers.
