Ostapenko among candidates for WTA Player of the Year

Print versionLatvia's Alona Ostapenko, who triumphed in the French Open Grand Slam tennis tournament this summer, is among the candidates for WTA Lady Player of the Year 2017, reports LETA.

She is also a candidate for Most Improved Player of the Year.
The 20-year-old Ostapenko won her first two WTA tournaments this year - winning the French Open in June, and the Seoul WTA International tournament in September.
She has also moved up in the WTA rankings from 43rd position last year to seventh position at the moment.
