Riga port reports 47.5% increase in passenger numbers for January-September

During the first nine months of 2017 the number of ship passengers at the port of Riga grew by 47.5% against the same period in 2016 to 659,272 people, according to information available on the port’s official website, cites LETA.
Of these people, 83,487 were cruise ship passengers. Their number increased
by 21.4% against the first nine months of last year.
As reported, Estonian ferry operator Tallink now has two ferries - the
Isabelle and the Romantika - running on the Riga-Stockholm route.
Previously only one ferry was running on the route every other day but in
December 2016 the cruise ferry Romantika started operating as a second ship on
the Riga-Stockholm route, and now there is daily ferry service between Riga and
Stockholm.
In 2016, the number of passengers served at the port of Riga reached
581,601, growing 10.5% compared to 2015.
Riga is the largest Latvian port in terms of both freight and passengers.
