First time registration of cars in Latvia grew by 9.7% in January-September

First time registration of passenger cars rose by 9.7% year-on-year in the first nine months of this year as 51,347 autos were registered for the first time in Latvia during that period, writes LETA, according to the information from the Latvian Road Traffic Safety Directorate (CSDD).

The transport vehicles registered for the first time in Latvia in the first nine months of this year also include 6,335 trucks, down 0.4% against the same period a year ago, 277 buses, up 27.1%, as well as 2,365 motorcycles and trikes, up 10.8%.


The list of vehicles registered for the first time in January-September 2017 also include 1,697 scooters, up 14.3%, 154 quadbikes, down 22.6%, and 5,058 trailers and semitrailers, up 10.8%.


In all, 67,233 transport vehicles were registered in the first nine months of 2017, which was a 8.8% increase against the same period in 2016.


In 2016, first-time registration of passenger cars dropped 4.9% year-on-year to 60,625 vehicles.


CSDD is a state-owned enterprise registering motor vehicles in Latvia, issuing drivers' licenses and conducting road worthiness examinations of vehicles.
