Bite Latvija invests EUR 1.27 mln in 4G+ technologies for 80 base stations

By investing EUR 1.27 million, Bite Latvija (Bite) mobile operator has equipped 80 base stations with 4G+ technologies, the company’s representatives informed LETA.

"As technologies develop and mobile communication services are becoming more available, users are becoming more demanding. Earlier mobile internet was an exclusive service, but now it is everyday necessity. Therefore we are constantly working on expanding the internet network coverage and its capacity, not only in Riga, but also regions," said the company’s representative Aleksandrs Belajevs.

 

He said that increase of internet consumption is one of the main factors when choosing the location for new technologies. 4G+ internet now is available to 66% of Latvian residents.

 

Bite opened the first 4G+ base stations in early 2015.

 

As reported, Bite Latvija posted EUR 78.971 million in turnover last year, 17.4% increase on 2015, while the company's profit rose 39.7%, amounting to EUR 7.345 million.

 

Bite Latvija's share capital is EUR 99.085 million, the company belongs to Lithuania's Bite Lietuva.
