Latvia’s Forevers meatpacker next year will start construction of a new plant and will invest about EUR 22 million in it, Forevers board chairman Andrejs Zdans told LETA.

The new plant will allow the company to increase its market share in the local market, and expand exports.

"We plan to launch construction early next year and complete the plant in 2019. Preliminary costs have been estimated at EUR 22 million," he said.

The company is considering to attract EU fund financing to the project, but it is too early to speak about details in this respect, said Zdans.

"Our present plant has a floor space of 8,250 square meters, there is no place for new equipment. Our new plant will have a floor space of 14,000 square meters," he said, adding that without the new plant further development of the company is hard.

Currently the company sells almost all of its output in Latvia. "We have a 17% market share. The new plant will allow us to think about new markets," said Zdans.

Forevers was registered in Riga in 1996, the company's share capital is EUR 1.3 million. In 2015, Forevers employed a staff of 247.

The company has a production facility in Riga and branches in Jekabpils and Saldus. The company makes sausages, smoked meat and fresh meat.

Zdans is the sole owner of Forevers.
