On 7 September, the port of Riga solemnly welcomed the first entry of the cruise ship “Thomson Celebration”. As usual when welcoming the first visit of a ship to the port, the ship captain Nikolaos Chalaris and representatives of the Freeport of Riga Authority exchanged emblems of the ship and the port. “Thomson Celebration” is a Thomson Cruises ship, which brought 1,209 tourists to Riga during its Baltic cruise, informed BC port’s press service.

99% of the “Thomson Celebration” passengers were British travellers on this Baltic cruise. As admitted by the ship captain Nikolaos Chalaris, “Thomson Celebration” is favoured by British tourists thanks to its small size and personal attitude. He told that there are passengers who tend to return again and again to exactly this ship. Likewise, this offer has been designed thinking exactly about British tourists. It is reflected in both the classic appearance and interior of the ship, as well as the range of meals, beverages and excursions.

“Thomson Celebration” is the 80th cruise ship visiting the port of Riga this season. 7 more ships are expected by the end of the season. We can forecast that the port of Riga will close this year’s cruise season with a high level of success. We expect an absolute record of the port of Riga in terms of the number of cruise passengers.
