Ergo, Telia launch online car insurance service in Estonia

BC, Tallinn, 08.09.2017.Print version
Insurer Ergo and telecom service provider Telia in Estonia have launched a joint motor insurance service allowing to buy insurance coverage only for the period of time that a vehicle is used, informs LETA/BNS.

"Vehicle e-insurance is a unique solution in Estonia offering third party and voluntary motor insurance depending on the amount of use. It means that the price of insurance depends on the number of days used," Andres Konsap, insurance director at the Estonian operation of Ergo, said. He said that the offering is ideally suited for the owners of motorcycles and hobby vehicles and families having several vehicles.

If a vehicle is used for 15 days or more during a month the regular insurance premium must be paid. For the period that a vehicle is not used the insurance can be stopped. A voluntary vehicle insurance contract remains valid as far as a natural disaster, vandalism and fire are concerned also during the period when the agreement is on hold, Konsap added.

The service can be ordered by anyone having a valid Telia mobile subscription. Payment occurs with the mobile bill for the next month.

Clients who so wish can acquire a GPS device allowing to switch the insurance on and off automatically and also to order voluntary car insurance.
