The number of building permits issued in Lithuania increased by 5.3% in Q2

Statistics Lithuania informs that in II quarter 2017, against II quarter 2016, based on the data from the Building Permits and State Construction Supervision Information System of the Republic of Lithuania (IS) Infostatyba, the number of building permits issued increased by 5.3%, of which for the construction of residential buildings – by 3.4%.

The construction of individual houses will remain predominant: 98.5% of all the building permits issued were those for the construction of individual houses. Building permits were issued for the construction of 1 772 individual houses with the useful floor area by 7.4% smaller and 47 blocks of flats with the useful floor area by 28.8% smaller than in the respective quarter of 2016.

In II quarter 2017, 270 building permits were issued for the construction of non-residential buildings, i.e. by 17.4% more than in the respective quarter of 2016. The total floor area of non-residential buildings whose construction was authorised will be by 26.1% smaller than in the respective quarter of 2016. In terms of the total floor area, the largest share of building permits issued were those for the construction of industrial buildings and warehouses (51.7%) and office buildings (20.9%).

According to the data of the IS Infostatyba, in II quarter 2017, 1 770 residential and non-residential buildings were completed, i.e. by 14.6% more than in the respective quarter of 2016. 1 592 residential buildings with 2 900 dwellings were completed, of which 60.8% – in individual houses. The useful floor area of the dwellings completed amounted to 318.7 thousand m2, i.e. by 4.3% less than in II quarter 2016. The average useful floor area of a dwelling in an individual house amounted to 144.3 m2, in a block of flats – to 56.6 m2.

 

In II quarter 2017, 51% of all the dwellings completed were located in Vilnius, 22.5% – Kaunas, 12% – Klaipėda counties.

In II quarter 2017, 178 non-residential buildings were completed. Their total floor area amounted to 178.3 thousand m2, i.e. by 21.4% less than in the respective quarter 2016. In terms of the total floor area, industrial buildings and warehouses (101.4 thousand m2) and agricultural buildings (30.7 thousand m2) accounted for the largest share.

 

In II quarter 2017, in terms of the total floor area, most – 29.6% – of all the non-residential buildings completed were located in Vilnius, 27% – Kaunas, 11.6% – Šiauliai counties.
