US ambassador visits Riga port

Print versionUS Ambassador to Latvia Nancy Pettit and embassy’s employees today made a visit to the Riga port, the Riga Freeport Administration reported.

The ambassador met with Riga Freeport deputy administrator Martins Ziemanis and heads of structural units. The guests were informed about the Riga port results, development strategy and new projects.
The ambassador was interested in the port’s development plans and underscored the large potential of Riga and the port in cruise tourism. The ambassador also voiced readiness to cooperate in development of this segment, the port said.
Riga Freeport is the largest Latvian port by cargo turnover and the number of passengers. There are 194 private companies, including 35 stevedores working at the Riga port.
