Latvia’s Balticovo to invest about EUR 3 mln in new grain complex

Latvia’s largest egg producer Balticovo will invest about EUR 3 million in a new grain processing and storing complex in Bene, southern Latvia, the company reported LETA.

Balticovo board chairman Vadims Vlasovs said that the new grain complex will be in a convenient location and will allow the company to purchase grain from local farmers. About EUR 3 mln will be invested in the new complex, and its capacity will be EUR 20,000 tons. The grain complex will employ two people, while during harvest time the number of employees will increase to eight.


Balticovo produces and sells eggs and different liquid and dried egg products.


In 2015, Balticovo generated EUR 45.9 mln in turnover, up 7% from 2014, when the company's turnover was EUR 42.8 mln, and showed a profit of EUR 5.6 mln at a more than double growth compared to the 2014 profit of EUR 2.15 mln.


Balticovo is 95-% owned BCO, a company which belongs to several Latvian individuals.
