Nordecon to reconstruct Haabersti road intersection for EUR 19.8 mln

BC, Tallinn, 30.03.2017.Print version
The infrastructure services department of the City of Tallinn has signed an order declaring a tender offer by the listed construction group Nordecon AS priced at 19.8 mln euros as winner of the tender for the contract to reconstruct the Haabersti road intersection on the western outskirts of Tallinn, reports LETA/BNS.

The contract is to be signed with the winning tenderer after the expiry of the 14-day period during which the outcome of the tender can be contested, the city government said.

As part of the reconstruction a 38-meter and a 54-meter tunnel will be built for cycle and pedestrian traffic to interconnect foot and cycle paths heading to all directions from the intersection. The existing roundabout would be transformed into a roundabout with traffic lights.

The project would be completed in two phases, with the first phase including a 277-meter road bridge in the direction of Paldiski Road to be completed in October 2017 and phase two, including the roundabout with traffic lights, in August 2018.

The project is co-financed by the EU Cohesion Fund. The City of Tallinn has set aside 6.5 mln euros for the reconstruction of the intersection in its budget for 2017.
