The arrival of Finland's Outokumpu, Europe's largest stainless steel manufacturer, in Lithuania shows that the country is attractive for investments by big foreign companies, President Dalia Grybauskaite said on Wednesday.

"This means the arrival of Scandinavia's biggest steel business in Lithuania. Large businesses see Lithuania as a good location for creating high value-added jobs," the president said at the opening of Outokumpu's global business services center in Vilnius.

"Scandinavian businesses are bringing high business culture standards and ethics. These are socially responsible businesses," she said.

In Grybauskaite's words, it is important that 90%t of the center's employees will be Lithuanians.

The center currently employs 80 professionals, with another 100 jobs planned to be created in the near future.

The Vilnius center will provide financial management, credit control, procurement, IT project and service management services to the company.
