In February 2017, Estonian ferry operator Tallink Grupp carried 45,080 passengers between Riga and Stockholm, which was 22.4% more than in the second month of 2016, according to the company's report to the Tallinn bourse.

In February 2017, Tallink saw ferry passengers grow on all four routes. The overall number of passengers carried by Tallink ferries in February of this year rose by 3.4% year-on-year to 654,048.

The number of ferry passengers carried between Estonia and Finland increased 3.2% year-on-year to 334,101 in February 2017. The number of ferry passengers carried between Finland and Sweden rose by 0.7% to 202,266, and on the Estonia-Sweden route Tallink saw number of passengers grow 2.2% to 72,601.

The amount of cargo carried by Tallink ferries in February 2017 grew by 5.1% against February 2016 to 26,919 units, while the number of passengers' transport vehicles was up 0.2% to 69,614 vehicles.

Tallink said in its statement that operational factors influenced the development in February 2017 because cruise ferry Isabelle running between Riga and Stockholm did not operate on route for 10 days due to scheduled maintenance.

Tallink launched ferry traffic between Riga and Stockholm in April 2006. For some time, the company operated two passenger ferries on this route but, starting August 2014, only one ferry, the Isabelle, ran on the Riga-Stockholm route every other day until December 2016, when the cruise ferry Romantika started operating as a second ship on the Riga-Stockholm route.
